Yea ... she got an addiction, even through it is not on drugs. She will never kick it, and she will be doing it again if given the chance in a weak moment. What you need to decide. Do you want to take the 'fight' with her, controlling financial issues, and possibly having same issues in the future? sure, she needs help and support. But that doesn't mean that you are automatically volunteered to be the one doing it. You have to fend for your own life and happiness.

It depends on the laws where you live. If you're responsible for half her debt, then not yet. If there's a way for you to divorce and not incur financial penalties or responsibilities, then yes. A marriage should be a partnership. I have no idea what she purchased or how it can affect your financial stability for a decade, but if it's something serious, best try and find a partner on whom you can depend.

You don't want to be financially tied to someone who gets you in debt like that. If you want the relationship to continue is a different question. Depending on where you live, there might be some kind marriage contracts or something to protect against this kind of thing.
